What is learner Centered Instruction?
Learner Centered Instruction is a teaching method that focuses on students engaging in hard work, reflecting on their learning process, and learning independently or collaboratively.
What is the main role of the teacher in LCI?
Teachers support students by devoting some class time to non-traditional activities, including teaching learners how to use learning strategies , how to use available tools and resources, and how to reflect on their own learning.
Explain the 4 key principles of student centered learning.
- Learning is personalized. Personalization also encompasses differentiated instruction that supports student progress based on subject matter mastery. Teachers help students find what they like and want to learn about and what their strengths and needs are.
- Learning is competency based. Learning opportunities take into account existing knowledge, skills, and abilities, set high expectations, and push students in supportive ways to reach their personal goals.
- Learning happens anythime anywhere. Education is inmersed everywhere, in diferent ways. Students develop their skills and build their personal knowledge and experiences .
- Students take ownership. A student who takes ownership of their learning becomes a driving force in their own education. They direct their learning, and they take it upon themselves to work hard when necessary. They assume responsibility for their own work without needing to be persuaded to do so.
