Learner centered instruction is a new educative model where focuses on the learner and the learning process. The role of the teacher is different, changes to facilitator, who creates a learning environment that resembles as much as possible the one in which students learned new knowledgements.

Students participate in the learning process by establishing learning goals, developing and choosing learning strategies, and evaluating their own progress. In the classroom , students incorporate the activities in  real-world situations.

Learner-centered instruction encourages students to take responsibility for their own language skill development and helps them gain confidence in their ability to learn and use the language. Teachers support students by devoting some class time to non-traditional activities, including teaching learners how to use learning strategies, how to use available tools and resources, and how to reflect on their own learning. In conclusion learner-centered instruction is based on the four principles: 1. Learning is personalized, 2 Learning is competency-based, 3.Learning happens anytime, anywhere, and Students take ownership

b. What is the main role of the teacher in LCI?

The main role of the teacher in learner-centered instruction is a challenge for the education system and for the teacher who is presented as someone who guides , directs and enhances student participation in learning and strengthens the self - responsibility, self- esteem, discipline , interest and motivating by learning through activities, projects with objectives and goals.

c. Explain the 4 key principles of student centered learning.

1.     Learning is personalized.

Learning is personalized when is intended to facilitate the academic success of each student by first determining the learning needs, interests, and aspirations of individual students, and then providing learning experiences that are customized—to a greater or lesser extent—for each student. Teachers establish a good relationship and can know where students are they are in their development for helping them.

2.    Learning is competency-based

It tries  about the  information and skills students have. They can perceive all abilities in the different subjects therefore teachers to respond and reinforce the individual needs, interest and challenges. Learning is competency-based is learner‑focused and works naturally with independent study and with the teacher  in the role of facilitator. Students  often find different individual skills more difficult than others. This learning method allows a student to learn those individual skills they find challenging at their own pace, practicing and refining as much as they like. Then, they can move rapidly through other skills to which they are more adept.

3.    Learning happens anytime, anywhere.

In this educative model, students can study in whatever environment, learners can search information where ever are, that is in the labs, in class, in their homes, outside, etc. It’s important the site where the production would be effectively.

Students take ownership. Students don’t need somebody take decisions for them neither without them. They make important discoveries opposite to traditional schools. They can take decisions, they are owner about their projects, activities.
