WHAT IS LEARNER CENTERED INSTRUCTION (LCI)?
The learner centered instruction is an approach where the learner is the most important part in the learning process. Students have the opportunity to learn a language in a collaborative, free stress atmosphere.
On the other hand, teachers become a facilitator of the knowledge creating activities that engage students in an authentic and meaningful learning.
WHAT IS THE MAIN ROLE OF THE TEACHER IN LCI?
Teacher are facilitators where they do less speaking and give students the opportunity to speak more and to work by their own in order to construct the knowledge.
EXPLAIN THE 4 KEY PRINCIPLES OF STUDENT CENTERED LEARNING.
· Cognitive and metacognitive principle>
Students need to learn in their own space and rhythm and the knowledge has to be valuable for them and meaningful.
Students also need to construct their knowledge by using the previous own to use in communication. Also students are able to use creative thinking to solve any problem.
· Motivational and effective factors
Emotions play an important role in language learning, because students that are emotionally well, ten to have better performance in the classrooms and therefore they are motivate to learn.
· Developmental and social factors.
Social factors are important when learning language. For example, if a student decides to go abroad, the influence of the new society forces to him to learn the language of that country in order to communicate and to meet his needs.
· Individual differences factors
An important point to figure out here is that everybody learns in different way and this matter can be very useful because these diversity makes classes more rewarding.
