WHAT IS LEARNER CENTERED INSTRUCTION?
It is an instructional method in which students are the principal actors because the content, materials and activities of the lesson are influenced by the student and their needs.
WHAT IS THE MAIN ROLE OF THE TEACHER IN LCI?
Teacher is the person who facilitates the learning process, providing students with different activities to learn by themselves. It includes specific techniques to help them to develop their own skills.
EXPLAIN THE FOUR KEY PRINCIPLES OF STUDENT CENTERED LEARNING
1.- LEARNING IS PERSONALIZED: Teachers must be aware of students weakness and strengths in order to help them to overcome with difficulties in learning because not all the students learn in the same way and each student has different points of view about the topic they are learning.
2.- COMPETENCY.- It is similar to learning is personalized because it is about the information student has mastered not only in the curriculum. Students learn at their own pace and teachers have to respond to their individual needs, or at least trying to do this.
3.- LEARNING HAPPENS ANYTIME AND ANYWHERE: The time for learning is not only when the bell rings, it is anytime and anywhere, even if there is not a teacher who helps him or her in the learning process, the student is going to learn something.
4.- STUDENTS TAKE OWNERSHIP: Teacher should not make decisions for students without them. They have to be engaged on their success process so they will feel included and they will be more engaged in this process of learning.
